Work I did for jobs that didnt get me the job part 3

This first piece was for a small gaming company. Before the interview, they wanted to see what I can do their brief, so I spent some time creating these two, sent it to them but never got a reply.

These images were for a music video pitch. I worked with my friend, Joe Lea, to produce a really good treatment, but after a week things weren't looking to good. It was to be a noir type narrative with comic visuals, where the heroine goes on a crusade to reclaim her stolen records. Ending with a climatic battle in a room of mirrors, like Enter the Dragon, but more frenetic. However it was not to be :,(

Work I did for jobs that didnt get me the job part 2

It's been a while since my last post, so I thought I might start with a downer. I went for a job interview recently at an e-card studio (it did not go well, I ended up breaking the interviewers pencil) and they asked me to produce 2 animations as a test.
The first was to take apart an image that was provided and animate it, no probs, it took me a few hours to finish. But the second was a toughie, an e-card about engagement. I'm not the most romantic or sentimental of people, so this was bit of a stretch for me and maybe it shows in the finished animation. Again this took a few hours to do, illustrated with Illustrator and animated with After Effects.
A few days later, I got a rejection email and was kindly offered to give some feedback, which I cowardly ignored.

4th Apocalypse Trojan sketches

May 2009

May 2009
I found these while backing up my work to DVD's, to create space on my HDD. I did a number of sketches when I was designing the Trojan character (Zyborg as I knew them from that when). Early on, I tried to keep a certain amount of realism and practicality whilst designing them, but then remembering the story is set in the future and threw caution to the wind. Before I added a Helmet mask thing on, I used the WWE/UFC fighter, Brock Lesner, as inspiration.

Like Mother, like Daughter

Aug 2010
Here's the first page of a comic I drew (written by Ben Jenkins and Christopher Godfrey, lettered by Dave Evans) for Something Wicked, published by FutureQuake Press. I'm not too sure if I can put this up or not, but what the hell, its only one page.

Work I did for jobs that didnt get me the job

So, this is my blog, somewhere where I can dump my work and occasionally moan.
The stuff I'm gonna post won't be in any order, so the quality will be a bit random.

May 2010
I did this picture for a job position, where they wanted me to produce some samples from a brief. It was an educational email news letter aimed at 6-17yo's. I spent a few a hours on them, emailed it and never heard from them again (this is going to be a common theme in my posts). I actually forgot that I didn't get a reply from them, I feel a little disheartened now.

June 2010

Again, this was for a job, where they wanted me to produce 10 frame animation samples before an interview. Going against the trend, I turned the job down (I wasn't offered the job but they wanted me to do a work trial) for another job. The interview didn't go too well, so i doubt I would of got the job anyway. But It was cool to say no thanks for once.

June 2010
June was a busy month, I applied to a lot of jobs and the ones that got back, wanted me to prove I can do the job and I was like "what?!................... oh alright then". This image was for a job where they were making an illustrative animation (not sure if I can show this or not). So I started drawing it on cheap black paper with chalk with the image they provided that I had to copy. The copying wasn't a problem but I couldn't get the detail they wanted with the materials I had, and when they called me, I got them mixed up with another job I had applied for and I didn't come off too well. They never got back to me.
